De Wilmersberg

Estate hotel
The Wilmbersberg

De Lutte, NL
Brief and background

De Wilmersberg is a concept drawn deep from the love for traditional hospitality methods centered around a beautiful estate. For many years the hotel is cared for by passionated families, offering a warm and welcoming platform of outdoor and indoor experiences to their guests. Operating out of an area which is known for it’s estate hotels and retreats, the current family managing the hotel seized the opportunity to freshen up the hotel’s identity and approach towards her guests. A brand full of autenthicity, history and passion, they wanted the hotel’s brand and interior to truly reflect the guests experience.

Our solution

Don’t tell mum began the process by fully immersing herself in the Wilmersberg experience to draw out the very essence of the brand. The managing family’s passion and love for travels and hospitality would very much influence the redesign of the existing identity. Whilst the brand already used strong hospitality references in relation to the location and the services offered, mum saw the opportunity to evolve this by focusing on the personal and authentic experience a guest would like to go home with. And use this in their consideration to book a room, party, wedding or meeting here instead at the competitor’s estate down the road. She translated this by identifying memories, dialogue and originality as core elements of the brand. It is these influences that would shape the identity and experience of this estate hotel.

The overall design puts the importance of personal memories at the very heart of the experience, identifying the guest through every touch point. Giving guests the room to really feel at home in their own personal way. Conveying the thought that all is possible, like when being at home. Elements such as photo collages, illustrations, personal quotes and a fresh yet natural color palette brought life to the existing identity. The rustic setting of the hotel opened it’s mind to adding modern touches and new features when it came to furniture, staff, clothing and services, yet keeping the essence of traditional hospitality methods in mind. By adding they added to their personality and expended the variety of their guests, welcoming new guests who had never experienced the Wilmersberg before and who would truly find an extraordinary home away from home.
